FORMER BEAUTY QUEEN IBIDUNNI IGHODALO PLANS THE BIGGEST FREE BABY SHOWER

Former beauty queen and CEO of Elizabeth R, a high-profile, events planning company, Ibidunni Ighodalo has announced what may become the biggest free baby shower ever, as the Ibidunni Ighodalo Foundation (IFF) invites parents with babies aged from one day-old to one year-old to a marketplace of free shopping.
Ibidunni is the wife of accountant and clergyman, Ituah Ighodalo whose search for a child has been widely publicized. The compassionate Ibidunni Ighodalo whose interest in issues around pregnancy and childbirth is becoming legendary is known to fund assisted reproductive procedure for infertile couples, costing, at least, N1.3 million per couple. Earlier in the year, the IIF held a hugely attended first Parent-in-Waiting Conference that accommodated heart-rending testimonies from couples who surmounted the hurdle of childlessness. Different experts were also on hand to discourse matters relating to infertility; while medical teams offered free screening.
Holding at the Millennium Housing Estate Open Field, Ibeshe-Ikorodu on Friday December 22, The Baby’s Day Out is another novelty that brings to manifestation the slogan of the IIF, ‘Touching Lives and Fulfilling Dreams’. The Baby’s Day Out at Ikorodu is the apparent next logical step in the IIF’s sustained effort to bring fulfillment and happiness to couples (if Ibidunni was from Imo State, she would have been the best person to head the Ministry of Happiness and Couples Fulfillment). The Baby’s Day Out has been conceived as a platform to celebrate the birth of children from one day-old to one year-old by presenting gifts to mothers and babies at a party.
As event planning is Ibidunni Ighodalo’s most visible occupation, the IIF is expected to create a perfect baby shower including themes, ideas, games and foods; which merge seamlessly into the Christmas festivity. Whether she will build a grotto from where Santa Claus will hand out the gifts to the babies and mothers is left to be seen. Perhaps, the IIF follows the Biblical tradition of Wise men from the East who brought gifts to Jesus Christ whose birth is being commemorated at Christmas.
Since there is no restriction, tens of hundreds of babies and mothers are expected to throng the venue between Midday and 6.00pm to benefit from the IIF largesse which may include mini furniture such as play table or rocking chair, toys, dolls, stuffed animals, picture books, keepsake boxes and cute clothing. The cost of these items and the logistics of taking them to Ikorodu run into tens of millions of Naira, which officials of the foundation refused to disclose.
The IIF statement does not discriminate on the social status of babies and mothers who can attend the event, suggesting that everyone is welcome. The Millennium Estate where the event will be held is occupied largely by lower middle class families.

Why Must the Next Nigerian President Come from The North? Tweet

[ Masterweb Reports: SKC Ogbonnia reports ] - The People's Democratic Party (PDP), the main opposition party in Nigeria, has concluded its long-awaited national convention. The main takeaway from the gathering is the zoning of its presidential candidate for the 2019 elections to Northern Nigeria. But they may not be alone. The fiercest narrative that has continued to greet my expression of interest to vie for president under the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) is that power must remain in the North past 2019.

So, why specifically the North at this critical stage of national development where the nation is facing serious crises in all fronts? Have the leaders from any particular zone shown any magic wand in solving national problems? If zoning is suddenly the sole panacea for our problems, what are the criteria?

The cursory history below is cue.

By May 2019, the North might have occupied the seat of power for about 42 out of 59 years of national independence. Of the three Northern political zones, the North-West would have been in power for roughly 18 years; 11 democratic, and 7 years under military rule. The North-East already had about 6 years of democratic governance in the First Republic; while the North-Central accounted for solid 18 years, all military. Yet, despite unfettered allocation of federal funds to the Northern region, its huge natural and human resources remain grossly untapped. It is not surprising, therefore, that the image of the poor human condition in the North is the convex lens through which the history of bad leadership in Nigeria is seen worldwide.

Similarly, the Southern Nigeria has held power for about 17 years. The South-West zone was at the helm for 12 years; 8 years of democratic power, and 4 years of military and quasi military dictatorships. The South-South follows with 5 years, all democratic leadership; while the South-East accounted for 6 months through military authority. Unfortunately, however, the condition of vital federal projects in the South, including roads and airports, remain an eyesore. Needless to mention that the region is well known for high crime rates home and abroad.

Ultimately, politicians from both the North and South are guilty of bad leadership in Nigeria. We must admit, therefore, that the distrust in the polity is deeply rooted in the past, where each ethnic group or region patently shares blame. But if zoning must prevail at this critical time, common sense dictates that the law of equity would equally demand that the position of the president be allocated to the region or the zones thus far marginalized in the presidential equation.

Critics are expected to roar here. As if Nigeria just attained independence in 1999, they will attempt to argue that the rotation began in 1999. Others have also made the case that the rotation rationale does not consider military rule. Fine. But there is the need for consistency. Nigeria has moved onto political zones instead of the regional concept. Thus, the presidential calculators ought to zoom their searchlight into the North-Central and the South-East, being the political zones that are yet to produce democratic presidents. In other words, any presidential aspirant from North-West, South-West, South-South, and North-East might as well step aside.

More progressively, let there be open contest from all zones without preordained anointment. Nigeria needs a leader who is best equipped to lead at this stage of national development. For things are not going well in our country. The ordinary man and woman is finding it difficult to survive. Many of the youths are fleeing the country, most of whom have no other choice than to embrace the harsh conditions in immigration jails in foreign lands as more hopeful than the free life in our native land. Some are even accepting to be sold as slaves insofar they escape the Nigerian dilemma.

Make no mistake about it, the main problem is not the fault of the current national government. Instead, it is a culmination of acute leadership failures inherited from the past PDP regimes that squandered the nation's golden opportunities. For example, despite unprecedented revenue generated from crude oil from 1999 to 2014, abject corruption, rather than the dividend of the hard-earned democracy, was the order of the day.

As can be recalled, that very situation prompted many patriots, including this writer-to sacrifice our individual political and business interests-to promote any candidate who could stem the tide of bad governance bedeviling the country at the time. We did not care about ethnicity, religion or creed. We did not care that the South-South, the very life zone of the nation, which at the time had a sitting president in Goodluck Jonathan, had not exhausted its eight years in Aso Villa. All we sought was a Nigerian, simply a Nigerian, with a history of fighting corruption. Muhammadu Buhari was that man.

Buhari came back to power with good intentions and has performed to the best of his ability. At least, corruption is once again being viewed as stealing. But, if the truth is told, his best can no longer cope with the demands of the 21st century Nigeria. In short, President Muhammadu Buhari has two glaring styles to consider moving forward: The Mandela manner or the Mugabe muggle. The world is watching.

The world is definitely watching, believing that Nigeria can do much better. It is not a secret that her citizens, including the youth, are leading lights worldwide in all-important areas of human civilization from medicine, education, engineering, law enforcement, and what have you. Yet, the same Nigerian professionals cannot replicate similar standards at home because of all manners of discrimination, including uneven zoning and quota. That trend must change. The posterity beckons on us to capitalize on our rich diversity and find common grounds where ideas could converge for practical solutions instead of amplifying the echoes of a lifelong pattern of tribal or regional rivalries.

WHOS IS HE ? SEUN OSEWA (NAIRALAND)

INTRODUCTION
Seun is an Ogun state born Programmer,Webmaster and business man, he’s the founder and owner of Nigeria and Africa’s largest online Forum NAIRALAND the website was the
most visited Nigerian and African Site untill 2015 according to Alexa ranking. Seun is a very successful online entrepreneur and a very private person.

EARLY LIFE AND BACKGROUND
Seun Osewa was born and raised in Sango Ota Ogun State Nigeria. He grew up learning
and knowing the technological part of life.
Seun osewa has been interested in the internet business since he has known what internet
is and how to use it.
Seun enrolled as a student in the University Of Ile Ife to study electrical engineering in 1998 but he did not finish. No, he wasn’t rusticated. Too brilliant to be. Looks like he dropped out of the school to pursue his programming dream and here he is today.

CAREER AND LIFE
Seun started his internet career in the year 2003 after going into the web hosting business.
He had attempted to start a web hosting business, but after 3 months he could only boast of one customer, so he ran out of capital and the business died..after several ideas and other trials he decided to start a web forum, because it was the only idea that required no additional capital. He created 3 forums in November 2003 (one for higher institution students, one for IT discussions, and one to cover the emerging GSM industry; the Mobile Nigeria Forum at MobileNigeria.com).

The Mobile Nigeria Forum took off, so he relaunched it in February 2005 with the assistance of Mr. John Sagai Adams, who posted a link to the forum on his mailing list
and participated enthusiastically in those early days. In a month or so, the forum had about 300 members, but the growth potential didn’t satisfy him.

He decided to start Nairaland when he noticed two odd things about MobileNigeria:

(1) Despite its narrow focus, it was the only Nigerian community that gave a voice to Nigerians at home. Most other Nigerian sites were owned and dominated by Nigerians in the US or UK. They covered only issues of interests to Nigerianst abroad.

(2) The off topic section of the forum, covering topics outside telecoms, like romance and jokes, was becoming more vibrant than the Mobile Nigeria Forum itself, suggesting the need for a more general-purpose Nigerian forum. This gave him the confidence to take forums like Naijaryders and Talknaija head on by starting a general purpose discussion forum with a strong bias towards issues of interest to Nigerians at home. He felt that such a site could attract enough traffic to make enough money.
Nairaland got much higher traffic than expected making his income on Nairaland much more than expected.

DO YOU KNOW WHY WE STARTED HAVING MODERATORS?

As Nairaland grows seun had problems with spammers flooding the forum so he started getting helps from moderators he selected. Seun got help in updating the forum’s frontpage and keeping it clean by moderators like
Mukina2 a female mod who has been working with seun since 2007 and others.

In 2011 seun was approached by a group of company who wants to buy nairaland for 1million dollars which is 155million naira but he rejected the approach, and even nairaland’s estimated worth by a site ranker for the year 2011 was 512million naira making it the most expensive nigerian site. Despite all these money seun whom is expected to be leaving in one huge mansion in estates like Banana island lagos only lives in his hometown sango ota ogun state a very close little city to lagos state.
Fame power, money we all love and seek to have. But as someone that knows Seun quite well -even if not physically yet, and may never – the guy just doesn’t appear to like the celebrity status. Some people use money to buy fame, Seun uses money to run away from
it! There are people that will pay to meet Seun Osewa in person, but he has refused to show himself. With the largest African online forum under his control, more than half a million people that depend on his online website to make their day, Seun can easily wield power. But all those appear not to be his style.

A case in point: when he was listed by the organizers of The Future Awards in the controversial “Nigeria’s 100 Best” list, which presented him with an opportunity to dine with the celebrities in Aso Rock (what some people will pay millions to get), it didn’t even freak the Ota-based geek. Rather, he sarcastically commented on my Facebook wall when I raised a criticism of the TF
A list that, “oh, it’s a good list because I saw my name there”. Oh, he only saw his name there, he didn’t partake in anything – a free ticket to visit Aso rock but he never went. Such is Seun’s abhorrence for fame. We shall conclude seun looks upto Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg as they both have

same attribute of seriousness in their field, facebbook founder wore just one tie throughout a whole year to show a sign of seriousness in making facebook a real big thing and so seun also used just one profile picture in all his online accounts including nairaland for over 2years in which he is till using as at 2014 to show a sign of seriousness in making nairaland much more huge.
Seun once aspired to be a movie producer but never was, may be he is going start in future.

Some people do think seun is a (born again christian) because of some of his gentle gentle pretense but he is totally not. It looks like he is a great fan of actress Tonto Dikeh has he get involved with posts related to her often on Nairaland.
He is also a great fan of a popular TV series "GAME OF THRONES."

-The Court of Appeal had on Monday issued hearing notices and served same on parties to the appeal. The Court of Appeal in Abuja is today, Monday, to give judgment on the appeal filed by the Federal Government to contest the acquittal of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
The Court of Appeal had on Monday issued hearing notices and served same on parties to the appeal. The three-man panel of Judges led by Justice Tinuade Akomolafe-Wilson had reserved judgment following parties’ adoption of their appellant’s and respondent’s briefs on 14th November, 2017.
The FG had on June 22, 2017 filed grounds notice of appeal against the June 14, 2017 judgment of the CCT acquitting Saraki of the 18 count charge bordeing on false asset declaration and other related offences leveled against him in September 2015.
The CCT which consisted of tow judges, led by Danladi Umar had ruled that the prosecution, with its four witnesses and 48 documentary exhibits tendered, failed to establish any prima facie case against Saraki.
Umar, in his lead ruling, exonerated Saraki, holding that the failure of the prosecution to obtain Saraki’s statement and make it a part of the proof of evidence was fatal to the case.
